From Ai Lao Mountain Range, Zhenyuan County, Simao District, Yunnan Province, China.
This tea is organically grown!
Our Tea Shop turns 3 years old in September’20 ~ This is such a massive achievement for us both and is absolutely amazing. To commemorate we treated ourselves to this beautifully fresh 2020 cake especially for our Tea Shop Birthday. Celebrate with us and raise a cup to good tea the world round!
The tea has large twisted and curled leaves with a good distribution of bright silvery tips and leaves of deep and balanced wood tones. The wet leaves giving rich fruity notes and the soup brews a warm gold with a shiny thick quality. A good rich flavour and satisfying clean, mellow taste, making for an easy drinking cupful, offering up full flavours and promising beginnings to this tea as it develops. Good for drinking now or suitable for ageing.
From trees growing as part of the natural mountain forest at 2200m altitude benefit from moisture in cloud mist and enriching sunshine. Harvested in Spring '20 from uncultivated older trees with harvesting only taking place in Spring, allowing the trees to rest through the following seasons. The leaves have had excellent processing and storage.
The Ai Lao mountain range is a meeting of five counties in Yunnan and a designated national nature reserve, protecting the primitive forest, a subtropical broadleaf, evergreen forest that spans 75% of the mountain range, together with its unique wildlife species.
With care, prise the cake apart using a sharp knife or pick. Gently prise the required amount of leaves from the cake, taking care not the break the leaves. Then separate into loose leaves, and you're ready to brew.
