This Darjeeling has a colourful mix of auburn, green flecks and silvery tips in the leaf. A forest aroma of pine and oak wood. A coppery coloured cup, decent strength with darker smooth wood notes, yet still a bright, unique flavour.
Locally known as Rangdoo Estate; The tea estate itself, is located within the Mirik Valley, in the west part of Darjeeling district close to the border with Nepal and neighbouring the Thurbo & Gopaldhara Tea estates. The tea plants there, grow at altitude spanning 4000 - 6800ft, surrounded by a unique flora & fauna, forest covering & flow of the Mechi river.
Okayti are among a few gardens still producing an autumnal harvest flush ~ this being the end of the harvest year for Darjeeling.
The Darjeeling estates grow the Chinese variety of Tea plant ~ Camellia Sinensis var. sinensis and often the processing methods are closer akin to the production of Oolongs.
