Blended Green Tea & Roasted Gen Mai Rice
From Wazuka-cho, Soraku District, Kyoto Prefecture, Honshu Island Japan
This tea is organically grown!
This Genmaicha is another personal favourite of ours, we drink it every morning over breakfast and its delicious! Makes for a great introduction to Japanese Green Tea.
This tea is a blend of Bancha leaves and roasted white mochi rice. A Bright cup with a light gold tea soup, Medium and rounded body. Satisfyingly toasty, nutty, fragrant corn aroma with a fresh, sweet flavour which compliments meals perfectly.
The tea has been grown by unshaded cultivation and harvested in June by Mr Nakai & family. Then undergone steaming, rolling and drying process. Wazuka is a tea town in the southeastern area of Kyoto Prefecture. Wazuka has been a tea growing location since the Kamakura period as a main producer following Uji tea processing methods. It thought that the Kaijūsen-ji temple introduced tea to the area and Zen Buddhist monk, Shonin Jishin was the first to cultivate tea on Mt Jubu and then in Wazuka.
