Excellent coarse/large leaf grade Honeybush, the leaves have vibrant peachy orange tones and a mixture of bright and dark bark like hues to them. Sweet and amazingly full bodied honey aromas from the loose leaf filling the room. Peachy orange colour to the cup with a rich, deep flavour sharing similarities with Rooibos, only sweeter with no astringency if left to brew for a longer time being naturally low in tannins. Superb alternative to Rooibos
Honeybush, Cyclopia is a shrublike plant with a honey scented yellow flower that is part of the Fabaceae family, Legume family. Similar to that of Gorse, Lupin or Laburnam. That naturally grow in Fynbos. Originally discovered in the 18th Century, then more recently in the 1990s, Honeybush saw a resurgence and its commercial cultivation grew significantly. Similar to Rooibos, traditionally enjoyed very milky with lots of sugar by South Africans.
Harvested from plants that exclusively grow wild in small areas of the Langkloof Valley District, part of the Cape Fold Belt and The Garden Route National Park. An area of habitat for over 2000 species of fynbo, a large and varied bird population and site of the Formosa Nature Reserve. In total the valley area spans 160km between the Tsitsikamma and Outeniqua Mountains.
