Assam ~ Latunomi Garden
Assam Latunomi // SFTGFOP // Second Flush 2019
From Latunomi Garden, Latunomi Village, Upper Dibrugarh District, Northeastern Assam, India.
Zero Waste Refill (in store collection only at present)
This tea is organically grown!
Large loose twists to the leaf with grey and tippy golden tones, good amount of golden bud. The wet leaf is sweet and malty, very aromatic. Light golden, coppery tea soup with a full bodied sweet honey flavour and complexity to taste. Akin to a Dian Hong Cha.
Harvested in Summer '19 and processed by Mr Sailen & family. Carefully and skilfully hand processing the tea leaves following traditional methods and grown by sustainable cultivation.
Since the early 90s, Latunomi village tea growers were given the opportunity to grow and sell unprocessed leaves to tea factories. This operation subsided around 2001. Mr Sailen's small family operated Latunomi tea garden moved to producing their own naturally cultivated teas. Originally set up as a 2 acre plantation, now at 7 acres with the further addition of a tea processing station now used as a research and experimentation base for various production styles.
