Fine high grade Rooibos, a large amount of very fine needle leaves with few stem, vibrant reddish orange and bright bark like appearance. Sweet and full bodied aromatic scents from the fully oxidised leaf. Reddish coppery colour to the cup with a rich, deep flavour with malty, earthy notes and lasting vanilla sweetness.
Rooibos, Aspalathus linearis, is a shrublike plant with a yellow flower that is part of the Fabaceae family, Legume family. Similar to that of Gorse, Lupin or Laburnam. That naturally grow in Cederberg's Fynbos. The first cultivated plants were at Clanwilliam. Originally drank as an alternative to black tea by the Dutch. Traditionally enjoyed very milky with lots of sugar by South Africans.
The Cederberg Mountains area being now part of the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas (World Heritage site) since 2004. The area has a very hot, dry, arid Mediterranean climate with colder winter rainfall. Sparsely populated and made up of sandstone formations and rocky terrain, with natural fynbos which are small shrubby stretches of heathland.
Brew Guide Per Cup:
Tea 1 teaspoon (3g)
Water 100*c // 300ml
Brew time 2-3 minutes
Reinfuse leaves a second time / to personal taste.
Suitable drinking with milk.
