Rwanda ~ Rukeri Estate
Rwanda Rukeri / / OP
From Rukeri Estate, Kirihara / Cyohoha Valley, Northern Province, Rwanda, Africa.
This tea is organically grown!
This tea has elegant, young, dark leaves with some coppery tips. A deep orange colour to the cup. Smooth drinking and a fruity finish, with citrusy and spicy notes. A fresh well rounded aroma with touches of malt and camphor. Comparisons could be made toward a high grown Ceylon.
Rukeri Estate being Rwanda's largest tea estate is located in the northern part of the country in the Kirihara & Cyohoha valley areas. Here it has a natural tropical highland climate where the tea plants are grown at an altitude of 1700m-2000m. Processed at the Sorwathe tea factory which happens to be Rwanda's first private factory, where the leaves are rolled in traditional rollers using select and seasoned timber tables and battens.
