Hand Thrown in Devon
Approximate measurements: 7.5cm tall x 6cm diameter. 110ml.
A shino glazed, soda and wood fired stoneware tea cup, striking in its contrast of colour and form, a truly exquisite piece.
The form of the cup is a straight sided narrow yunomi, taller than the other their other yunomi, and yet still small and perfectly formed. The shino glaze flows through orange, red and tan tones to a stone white, greyish appearance with a delicate shine, crackle and flashes of brown edging on the base. Creating a smooth surface and delicate shape that sits perfectly in the hand. These are an absolute joy to use and admire!
Popalini & Jezando are a collaborative creative force, with a studio on the Devon/Cornwall border, North Devon. Creating functional hand thrown stoneware pieces that are both contemporary yet steeped in ancient traditions of the area. Often producing pieces that are shown at art exhibitions alongside complementary work by other artists.
Please Note: Each teacup is uniquely individual due to the nature of the handthrown and firing process.
