Dartmoor Single Origin Tea Taster 2024 ~ Green & Black

We are honoured to be offering such beautiful and carefully crafted teas that are grown just 20 miles from us, here in Devon. Its amazing! We can’t quite believe it. 

We have created a very special Single Origin Tea Taster to celebrate Dartmoor Estate Teas first flush. For you to taste and experience a side by side comparison, their Green and Black Teas included is a mini zine information leaflet, presented in a sealed envelope. 

~ Their green tea is a beautifully mellow tea with gently rolled and curled large leaves giving high fragrances of hay and subtle tartness. The leaves open to reveal a sweet and fragrant aroma. The tea soup is of a high quality and clarity with a yellowish green colour. It has a very classic mellow flavour, that’s rounded, soft and clean with a subtle corn-like sweetness.

~ Their black tea is of excellent quality Black Tea akin to very small batch Assams or Red Teas like Jīn Jùn Méi. Tightly rolled and curled large leaves with dark, woody tones giving rich fragrances of honey, cocoa and sweet maltiness. High quality, thick viscosity and great clarity with an orange copper tone. A very satisfying flavour, A smooth, maltiness that brings with it stone fruits and orange-like citrus notes. A warming, rounded long lasting flavour. This is a truly awesome tea!

Both teas were harvested by hand picking on 27th May by a group of 9, (ourselves included) with processing continuing into the 28th, following traditional processing techniques, withering, heating and rolling. Jo noted that “for comparison, this young section of the tea garden, last year, yielded 2.6kg of fresh leaf, this year the same plants gave us 9.6kg of fresh leaf in the same picking period.” 

From humble beginnings in 2015, Kathryn & Jo Harper are proud to play a part in pioneering British grown Tea. Growing, hand picking and processing their leaves with the same care and passion that flows through every corner of their enthusiastic output, resulting in a beautifully inviting tea experience.

Dartmoor Estate Tea is set amidst the foothills of Dartmoor national park. Their Tea bushes are nurtured by rich acidic soils and fine moorland water, amongst a flourishing natural garden.
