Hand Thrown & Woodfired in Cornwall
Approximate Measurements: Approximate Measurements: 6cm height x 8cm diameter. 150ml capacity.
Skilfully formed from porcelain with areas of natural ash and areas left raw clay with a celadon interior. Comfortable size with a wavy, wabi lip and free formed sides.

Instinctively crafted with cuts, grooves and marks that all enrich the textural qualities. The smooth glazes contrast with rustic tactile grains. Earthy browns and greys combine with flame flashes of vibrant orange as marine tones of celadon erupts out from inside with glassy crackles and soft satin shine.
1 ~ Fresh tones of the bright glassy celadon with a defined spiral inside.
2 ~ Nice balance of peachy flame flashes and cool glassy celadon.
3 ~ Really enjoy the triangular area of glassy celadon slipping down one side with a rich flame flash on the opposite side.
4 ~ Glossy dark grey tones with a mottled turquoise interior, a real coastal character.
5 ~ A nice wider form with earthy tones and a textual cut motif.
6 ~ Full of the joys of celadon, with pinky purple blushes and glassy crazing, super smooth surface.
7 ~ Bright celadon cascades over the surface with pinky purple blushes and a very tactile surface.
8 ~ Expressively drippy celadon contrasts perfectly with the peachy earthy tones of the clay.
9 ~ Complimentary bands of earth tones and vivid crackling on the celadon. Full of character that’s uniquely free form with an off-centre handle.
10 ~ Fine crackles of celadon cover the surface creating a beautifully smooth surface. Inside a nice pooling of glassy celadon.
An appearance and feeling that can only be achieved by the magic of wood firing. The spontaneity of flame, smoke and ash and a playful combination of glaze, slip and natural clay together create these most unique effects. No two the same!

Capturing a strong connection to the natural environment and the elements with a striking presence that really resonates with us.
Previously studying under Kyra Cane, Christie Brown, Mo Jupp and Steve Buck. Sparking an enthusiasm for wood firing techniques along with kiln building, having now built several kilns enabling John to experiment extensively with this unique process.
John is based in the far reaches of Cornwall firing with his recently built 100 cubic foot Anagama kiln. Developing his own glazes, clays and slips especially suited to explore the full interaction that occurs with wood ash and flame, in such an extreme environment and prolonged process. Intentionally including found material to enrich the colour, textural interest, or effect. Producing work that conveys the rugged Cornish surroundings and celebrates the elemental nature of the process.
