Approximate measurements: 9.5 height x 8.5 diameter. 450ml.

A delightful wood fired stoneware Mug made with iron rich Cornish clay, with a rounded barrel like form. Mostly left unglazed intentionally to highlight the natural beauty of the clay and wood firing process where the flame and ash have created warming tones of orange and earthy browns, giving the mug a real rustic feel. A band of glaze sits around the the lip and continues inside providing and a striking contrast. Very comfortable to hold with a natural granular feel that’s very satisfying. 

Natural & Shino (peachy) - Glazed with shino giving bright peachy and off white tones.

Natural & Ash (blueish white) - Glazed with ash giving a vibrant blue tone.

Natural & Kaki (dark) - Glazed with kaki giving a deep purplish brown tone.

Each handmade and unique, therefore slight variations in shape, size and glaze will occur. Handwash recommended.

Charlie Collier creates functional hand thrown stoneware pieces that have an effortless simplicity and beauty to them made to enhance occasions and enrich our daily lives. Admiring the philosophy, that pots are ‘born, not made’ Charlie follows an organic approach to the creative process with the clay, paying particular detail to shape and form and instinctively knowing at which point a form is complete. He creates pieces that have a honest connection, energy and real character to them, something that you only feel with a handmade item.

Previously honing his skills and experience at Whichford Pottery and alongside its founder, Jim Keeling and a group of Japanese potters from Bizen, to build and fire with a Anagama woodfiring Kiln at Wytham Woods in Oxford. Charlie is now based at the Kigbeare Kiln Project near Okehampton, Devon.
